this is the turbo the previous owner took off the car due to the seals going out. Does anyone know which garrett it is and is it worth getting rebuilt for an upgrade. the previous owner put a mitsu ( stock ) back on the car.

The garrett has .42 a/r stamped on it. Would i have to do any major mods to make it work ? Can you R&R the turbo with the head and all that still in the car ?

Thanks for any help !!

Looks to be a stock Garrett T3 from a early turbo car with an adapter on it. I believe the turbos are identical to an intercooled Garrett except for the style of compressor housing.
would this turbo be worth rebuilding and is it an upgrade to what i have ( stock )
looks worth rebuilding to me.....you can get a rebuild kit, and do it yourself if you feel confident enough, for around 100 bucks from g-pop-shop. Check them out on the vendors forum here on TD or google search them.

I don't really think its an upgrade, unless you have a mitsu on there now.
But a rebuild is always a good thing...
If you still have your Mitsu its an upgrade.
can the turbo be swapped on our cars with the head and everything still in the car, it looks kinda ugly to do?...

is it an upgrade worth messing with or should i find another ?
The turbo and be removed and installed with the head on the car, difficult but do-able

its a upgrade worth messing with. After exhaust the mitsu should be the next upgrade on anyone's list

i can do it in an hour and a half.:thumb:
The kit needed for that turbo is the T3 4-piece carbon seal kit. Yes, it's a worthwhile upgrade.
