you have 2 different lift numbers one is lobe lift the other is valve lift
for example
gross vlave lift .499 id how far the valve will be open at full lift
gross lobe lift will be a lower number .348 the reason the gross lobe lift is lower is they havent factored in the rocker arm ratio

valve timing is when the the vavle opens in relation to the piston location in the cylnder
heres an example of it
valve timing @.50
intake opens @ 12 degrees before top dead center intake closes @ 44 degrees after bottom dead center
exhaust opens @ 55 degrees before bottome dead center exhaust closes @ 7 degrees after top dead center
the lobe sepration is the distance between the intake and the exhaust lobes for each cylnder for example
110 lobe center this means that there is 110 degrees distance between the int and exh lobes on the cam
and the centerline is the degrees that you would install the cam on
for example
106 intake center line
this means that you degree the cam with a degree wheel and set the intake centerline at 106 by either advancing or retarding the cam with either an offset cam key or a adj cam sprocket
all of these values are figured off of 360 degrees of rotation of the crank shaft hope i havent confused you
