ok. i have an 88 lebaron GTS and it has just a stock 2.5l 4cyl. engine but, it has an issue.
when i step on the gas(not punchin' it but, just leaving a stopsign) it dies down and then starts to speed up.
its like a delayed reaction. my thinking is its not getting enough air to burn all the fuel?

am i right or is there an answer to this? anyone had a similar problem or know anyone who does/did? and how did they or do i fix it?

Why does everyone always whine about turbo lag?
Do what ^ said if you haven't. Don't forget a fuel filter & GOOD fuel system cleaner like the Mopar stuff. Most of the parts store brands are hardly anything more than an $8 bottle of kerosene. The Mopar stuff actually works.

it cant be a "turbolag" because it doesn't have a turbo. its just a stock 2.5l 4cyl.

I already replaced the plugs,wires,and cap. and im pretty sure the timing is fine.

is there anything else that could be holding it back?

"Pretty sure" doesn't fix cars.
You never stated whether or not it was a turbo car, and I was kidding about lag. Are there any codes stored? How long since your last fuel filter change? Get some throttle body spray cleaner along with the other cleaner.

Check for a plugged cat and/or an EGR issue. Does sound like late timing though.

Believe it or not, it happened to me. Hesitation off idle, less noticable while driving. Took it to my buddy at Doug's in Mich. He replaced the cat with a straight pipe and hesitation went away. Started easier and performance increased also. No other changes made at that time, so it had to be the cat.
Later installed a hi-flow cat.
If you're going to check the WB's, check the kanoodsin valve while you're down there !!

Start with easy and cheap like the fuel filter, if you can check fuel pressure that would be good if the filter doesn't fix it. The fuel pump if original maybe older than some of our members
