find one online first then as somebody to check it for u and then go to buy it. finding an integrale in good condition is tricky task.still you can find them online under 10,000euro in ready to go condition if i get the chance to move over seas ill be lookin for one!
Yup, Definitely thought of this option myself. In fact, the '01 and later Caravan rear with the viscous coupler would work quite well in this setup for a street vehicle as the rear was designed to work with the 3.42 gear ratio available on the 42LE. And, if it weren't for the unequal length front axles on the 42LE setup we'd almost have asymmetrical AWD like a subie.I've always thought that would make the perfect place for an adapter housing of some sort to send a driveshaft rearward. Anybody with me on this?
I bought a JDM GTO VR4 for exactly that purpose 12 months ago. Having had it for 12 months, there is no way im canibalising that car for the Daytona. It'll be caravan awd or rwd with r154Bringing a post back from the dead...
When it come time to retire my stealth there are 2 thing si woul dlike to experiment with...
1) dropping the stealths turbo motor into my daytona (single turbo converon) with a stock style FWD trans along with the stealths electronics. in theory, the steath stock set up has 300hp/310tq to the crank on 6-8psi in a car that weighs almost 4000lbs. Now my stealth run 9.00 flat with 1.900 60's. swapping that motor and electronics into a car that weights around 3000lbs and simply put the car will go faster.
2) Install the complete stealth drive train and suspention so I can run the AWD. Fab up mounts to bolt into the rear sub frame and also what would be needed to mount the stealth motor/trans up front. Also working with the stealth electronics.
This would elmenate the tracton issues as well as give you the option to have all-wheel steering. when it comes to the motor they can handle (apperntly) up to 600AWHP on a stock tall block. and if you really wanted to get into it you can get headers and other supporting mods. Also AEM makes a plug-and-play stand alone computer for the stealth electronics as well.
I think a daytona with a stealth/3000gt drive train has potentional to be a truly unique set up with a little amount of cuztom fab.
I've been thinking about this a lot too, what's making it more of a pain than say, an allardtom type thing with the RWD trans from a dakota??not sure if anyone threw this in yet....what about a talon awd system, wouldn't that transaxle bolt up to the 2.2 and 2.5s as well, and be very close in wheelbase too... my $0.02
To share an interesting analogy: A 3rd Generation Mitsubishi Eclipse with 6g7x engine was converted from FWD to AWD recently using a bellhousing adapter to run an Evo 8 drivetrain. This is a bit odd because while there are AWD setups that directly bolt up to 6g7x engines, those setups are from 3000gt's and locate the transmission on the passenger side (opposite from our style). Evo transmissions are on the driver side (balancing weight) and dodge friendly. Too bad the bellhousing adapter was a one off. From what I can tell from pictures the transfer case resides where the intermediate drive shaft would normally be.
