wiper problem

got a prob...........was a rainy night here in nc and going to town to get the kids. all of a sudden the wipers made a funny noise, creaked, jerked and then boom! they locked up and would not move! boo-hoo! had to drive like miss daisey to the gas station with no wipers in 35mph wind and driven rain. i pulled the wipers free and the passenger side fell to the cowl and the drivers sd works. any ideas? thanks all!

plastic gromets. take it apart to get a look at the wiper transmission. There are plastic grommets that fall apart after 15 or so years. There should be 3 or 4 there about 12 bucks at chrysler. After market have them too but I think they are to hard to work with. but if you get thos put a dab of greese in them.
