Why isn't there an alarm light when the alarm is armed? If there is I sure haven't noticed it in two months...

Is there an aftermarket one compatible with the factory alarm?

Is there any way not to make it honk. When the alarm is armed?

Thanks

The blinking alarm LED light is located right in the middle of the guage that has fuel and temerature. If yours is not blinkeing when you set the alarm - go to your dealer 'cause it's broke.

I have to agree with you on the annoying horn honk. Unfortunately, my wife likes it and it's her car. The good new (for you) is it is very easy to disable. Th following is from the owners manual (page 2):
1. Insert key and turn ignition on.
2. Press and hold the unlock for 4-10 seconds.
3. Continue to hold the unlock button and press the lock button
4. Relase both buttons
a chime will sound letting you know that you are the master of buttons.

As for after market alarms. Many come with more features than your factory alarm and many come with less. Compatibility varies conciderably, but usually there are work arounds - especially for the more expensive ones. You'll just have to do some research and go shopping. I can't think of many features that would be worth the additional cost(at least for me). They do have alarms that will start the car and roll down all the windows, and other equally dazzeling stuff....
