as far a s I know most multi valve engines are interferance eng.'s. And the 2.0 and 2.4 are nearly identical so if you know the 2.0 is than I'd say the 2.4 is also.

I'm not sure what would be best for saving on wasted billable hours. You could pull the head but sometimes the valves can be bent so little that you can see it without removeing each valve and turring it to check trueness. Or if it was me I'd just line up the timming like normal and put a belt on it then do a compresion/leak down test. If you have even a slightly bent valve you'll lose compresion. Then unfortunatly you'll have to take it all apart again.

A stock 2.4 DOHC Chrysler is NOT an interference engine. You can roll the crank all you want without the timing belt on and not hit the valves. Been there, done that.

Maybe in your case but when the engine spinning, everything is moving faster. All my books, All Data, Mitchell, and even my friend at Chrysler all say interference engine BUT I also have had engines that should bend valves didn't!!!!
He may have got lucky!
