So i arrive in my 1986 Shelby #421 and they turn me away. They say its for Fords only. But wait this is the Shelby meet right? Its simple guys. Its either a show for Shelbys or its not. They said "but this is a dodge" One guy said "there really isnt any of these left". Umm yeah even better to have it at the show. What he really said was those are broken and forgotten. "Your Shelby is junk" in a nice way.

On the way home i raced a mustang and felt better. We all know how racing mustangs go.

Will this mentality ever change? How many mustangs need to fail before our cars are recognized as a worthy machine?

Don't sweat it man, I get both thumbs up and thumbs down. I was at a show last week in the CSX and a guy walked by and said aloud "Looks like someone paid Shelby $50 to put his name on something". I wasn't mad, It would be pointless to be. Not many people know what they are or what they can do. The people who do know what they are appreciate them. Ehh these cars talk at the track and on the street a lot better then at muscle car shows.:thumb:

Our first big hurdle was to be accepted by the other Mopar folks. Given my experience the last couple of years, I think that is happening. I've gotten a lot of positive comments and thumbs up from even the muscle car guys.

Being accepted by the Ford guys is whole different ball game... You are dealing with a whole different class of folks than what you see at most TD gatherings. Snobby, stuck up and too much $$$ on their hands. They all think Shelby's work with Chrysler was a joke. Something he did to make a buck. We know differently.

Truth is, I'm not sure I want to be accepted by those folks...

I went to a mopar event several weeks ago and I had positive responses from most. I didnt realize we had a problem being accepted by other mopar guys but that makes sense. Big cube old school guys dont want to learn. My old man was the same way intill i gave him a ride. Now he wont shut up about the car. Tells everybody how much of a bad ass "shit box" the car is. Now if he would find another way to describe it.

You are right about the ford guys attitude, a lot of them are not true car guys. They are stuck up and we will never think like they do. Its amazing to be turned away from a Shelby meet in a Shelby. Its not a Shelby meet. Its a ford meet and they think they own the mans loyalty. What disrespect for his work.

Meh... its just funny to think about how much we can stir the pot. I bet ford guys get really mad when outran by a Shelby dodge.

You try going to a Ford dealer ;and you'll see some bit of a difference now their.
Oh yes, the friction is from mustang owners with V8 motors, all the mustangs with 4L motors in 80s these mustang cars they didn't like at all....So you can see their is a trend they've equate in motor size they think V8 is it, not any old 4 banger? That is what they think till they hit the track, which these cars are not and they end up see nothing but tail lights from these 80s Shelby car's from Dodge that makes them in to real head turners !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yep. :thumb:
