Omni t2 conversion help

I'm using an 88 shelby z radiator/intercooler for my conversion on my 86 glh turbo. I got the radiator in but I can't get the hood to close without hiting the radiator. I even took the cap off and it closes but the hood bulges up on that side. Has anybody else had this problem? If you did what did you do to fix it? I would love to see pics of t2 omni conversions so if you have those post the links.

I had to bend the metal bracket of the radiator on the top and bottom side to fit in there though. Other than that, it fits fine for me.
I can't bend the bracket because I am running the stock intercooler which is attached to that bracket. Thanks for the tips and pics.

Both my GLHS radiators are bent like that from the factory. Kevin Isenberg used to have pics on his car domain site where he modified a G body rad I/C assembly to fit his L body. Might try looking him up.

angle grinder to the hood. it works. then when you are trying to have the lower hose connected to the intercooler and the lever for the clutch is in the way you grind metal off that too.
I want to have a factory look with the car so no way I'm taking metal off the hood. The lever for the clutch wouldn't be too bad because it wouldn't be as blantly obvious as the hood.

The Shelby GLHS Omnis have a notch cut out of the hood bracing to clear the radiator neck and cap. Find someone with a GLHS and look at what is done to it so you'll know what yours needs done.

drill 2 holes in the top of the rad. (on the 90degree bent part) so it lines up with the stock omni rad. bracket mounts, Then you gotta weld 2 brackets to mount the rad. a bit lower in the car. I have a t2 daytona rad in my omni and it works fine. I had to trim the bottom rad bracket so it wouldnt get hit by the front motor mount when it was launched real hard. Mines been holding up great. Good luck! :thumb:

I will do that. Thanks for the tip. I'll have to check out a friends car and see what you mean. We are having our monthly meeting today and that would be perfect however I'm a real estate agent and this weekend just got taken up :(

I dont have a camera and my cell pics arent worth s*it. so, it really not to hard tho. slide the rad in the car and basicly drill two holes in it where it lines up to the stock rad mount holes in the car. Dont use the mounts, just get some nuts, bolts, and washers. The bottom brackets are all personal preference, Do them however you want.
