yu can get up to a 3.85 in a 520 with factory parts (turbo trans)

all the MTs (except the 555/568) have the same span, of ~4.6
the 555/568 is a bit tighter with span of ~4.2

why not get a 3.85 520 and either swap trans or just FDR ?
you want to put retrograde, weaker gears into a newer case ?

the only factory close ratio gear set for 5 speed is from a 1984 A-525 box . I am currently racing the stock 5 speed trans with open diff.

I would like to get a close ratio gear set with a 4.10 or 4.40 final drive. I am using 14 inch alloy wheels and 185 X 65 rally tires.

Also would like to find a limited slip dif.

pretty sure there was just one gearset for the 525; what was different for the 83.5-84 SC, 84-6 carb'd GLH, and 'Charger / Turismo 2.2 HO' 5 speeds was the steeper FDR; talkin 83.5 SC:
"Its sole transmission was a 5-speed manual; its final-drive ratio had been bumped from 3.56 to 3.87."

reviews mentioned 'revised gear ratios', but this was merely a change in 'effective gear ratios', caused by changing the FDR

interesting that when you ordered a Turbo L, you got the lower FDR in yur 525, even th 'S' cars - also from dempsey's:

as I said, and as you can see from the DDG site info,
all the 5spd trans (except 555/568) have the same span

anyways the 525 is a weaker trans
if ya cant find a 555 or 568, then a 523 is next best,
523 is the evolution of (approx. same strength) the 520 you have

 

I think the 1984 shelly had the A-525 with a 3.87 final drive. Are those parts still avaliable from Dodge?
