Windsheild wipers started making a clunking noise (any ideas)?

Hey folks, the wipers (89 Caravan T1) started making a loud, singular clunk each time they reverse direction from the top of the stroke (as they begin heading back down). From inside it sounds like it comes from the driver side speaker. Open hood inspection reveals the sound to be right behind the motor cylinder. I'm guessing lose or broken linkage inside the firewall and under the cowl? There is no behavioral change otherwise. No obvious visual problem. Other posts do not address this issue. I'm still looking for my factory service manual.

Thx
Still my daily driver.

At Rockauto, are these the same?
DORMAN 118301 {#2857917, 3799089, 49440} Drive Link Connecting Bushing; Pivot
271512

or
DORMAN 49439 {#5211015} Drive Link Connecting Bushing; Crank Arm
271513

And, are the rubber grommets between the assembly mounting bolts and the firewall available anywhere?

What are we working on?

The bushings and sleeves are available, but you'll have to hunt around. Not sure of your application, but for my K-car the part number is 4339452. I found some online after a quick search for a quantity of three for about $17.00 with shipping. They're on a site called "eBid." Never heard of it, so don't know if it's legit. At least shows the parts are available...

Ok...I found my service manual...looks like I have to remove the cowl for the inspection and repair. Is it just the obvious screws to remove the cowl? I see the kit on Fwd performance. Might I inspect 1st then get specific part, or, best to just do the whole set while in the cowl?

So, Im looking at the kit on FWDP and I've opened my cowl and I don't get why there are four bushings in the kit. I see a passanger side pivot with one bar on it, a driver side pivot with two bars on it, and a motor joint. Are there two bushings on the drivers side with two bars (one from the motor and one to the passanger side pivot)?

Which car body are you working on?
I did the same fix on my GLHS (L-body) and all the wiper rods and bushings were easily accessible from the underneath.
You can also remove the wiper studs from outside and take the entire assembly off if you want, but you can just pop off an end at a time and replace the bushings.

Sorry, 1989 caravan SE T1 (pic). There was a time when our vehicles were identified in the profile.
I watched the two vids on how to press the bushings into place...I'm going to buy a nut, bolt, and washer. What kind of grease is that? I'm trying to asses the job and obtain the parts before complete teardown. I'd like to pull the assembly
out after I get the parts. OEM bushings are better? Dailydriver

Agree with 87blueshelbyz...don't know if the Dorman are any worse than the Mopar bits; however, I have mostly used the Mopar pieces (unless I needed to do the job immediately). They are a bit more pliable and are made in the USA. And yes, they are more expensive:

Wipers are as they should be (perpendicular to the windshield). They knock only when the glass is wet. When it is dry - everything is okay. So it turns out that when the wipers are needed (in the rain) can not drive, very much on the nerves of this knock. Even tried to silicon the glass to the wipers went more accessible, but it did not help. Tried to change the brushes on the other, tried swapping places - no luck. The bushing on the vanes greased, no rust and dashes, the motor also lubricated, runs smoothly, the balance of brushes in the engine more than 50%. Yesterday I looked at Recommended Sizes of Wiper Blades for Windshield and Rear Window, found out what is what, and the problem is gone
