Re: Daytona Thread-Post Pics

a or e refers to t1 or t2. if you mean the 8 digit.seeing as it is an85 it would be t1.

it has no ground effects or badging so my conclusion would be that it is a turbo daytona. still the best nose they ever made on these cars.and a nice grab for the price as the body looks straight and solid.

Re: Daytona Thread-Post Pics

waht is the 7th digit of the vin ? are there any rivet holes in the side of the body where the crease/bumped out body line is ? this is where the ground effects for a turboz would have been attached.

model options where
base model w/2.2 tbi
basemodel w/ 2.2 turbo (there are more of these than you think)
turboz 2.2 turbo
turboz c/s 2.2 turbo

these where trim levels, meaning basemodel had no exterior cladding and a base interior. turboz was an upgraded trim level and c/s was the fully loaded z.

Re: Daytona Thread-Post Pics

I will check on the VIN number.
There are no rivet holes on the side of the body where the molding should be.
The rear bumber does not say Turbo Z.
There are no holes where the lower side ground fx would be.
The interior is pretty basemodel looking. Only a chronograph, no navigator. Cloth seats, although drivers side has a hand pump for lumbar support. It's pretty lame.
BTW, mine is an 85, not an 86.
definetely not a z unless someone went through the trouble of filling all the holes and repainting then changing the tail lights. not probable.

Re: Daytona Thread-Post Pics

i travel in franklin area frequently and have never seen the car around !!!!!!! what a shame for me as it really looks sharp.

seems as this area is getting warmer for them as a week or two ago i ran in to a guy at the gas station that had his 2 owner (1st was his son) no winters 1986 turbo z t-top red w/ black int. and have seen several others around but have not spoken to them.

good enough the cops showed up at the house tonight because a neighbor complained . cop was cool as hell "i don't care if you work on the car all night just here cause i was called. nice car.....what is it is it a limited edition or something " :thumb:

it runs a cat and race bullet so about a loud as a harley but better

Thank you

butt loads of body hours !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

they have not been removed they are filled (indent where red stripe normally is) with a flexible body filler sanded smooth then touched up with filler. i have about 20 hours into the nose cone alone it will be easier on the next one hahaha.

there is one other body trick no one has picked out yet . thought that would be the first one noticed.....good the inspection statyion won't even know.

thanks scott

scott has been through every heart break with this thing he probably know the car as well as i do and helped on the body. good td times hahahahaha burn baby burn hahahahah

as for more body mods yes there are some in the pipe line (3 majors to be exact )but those are overboost motorsports secrets hahahaha i hear they have a thing for one off stuff eh scott :D

there is not a spec of black on the outside of the car other than weatherstripping and push pins to hold gfx in

the louvers are just not for me on my car. they date it and i am trying to make it as modern and wtf is that as possible so no emblems either. if you don't know what schooled your ricer ya better find out hehehehehe

the side markers i made metal plates that bolt through and then use a bondo fiberglass (good stuff not bondo brand) combo that hardens like concrete then top coated with filler

that looks good. yep windex w/ammonia not good. distilled water with a couple of squirts of dish soap is best. as for those mouldings they can be sanded and painted trim black. i found that the SEM or Wurth are best for match factroy finish but the duplicolor is real close too. if you use the duplicolor and use a light buffing compound they are very close to factory.
